Does Star Wars Arcade run on R36S?

Only partly. Sega 32X games are rated Limited on the R36S (RK3326): lighter games run, demanding titles may struggle.

The 32X requires two SH-2 cores emulated alongside the Mega Drive itself, which is a real load for the RK3326 — expect frame drops in the 3D titles, while 2D games such as Knuckles Chaotix fare better. The R36 Max and R36S Ultra use the same chip.

Made for a 4:3 TV, so it fills the 3.5-inch screen of the R36S, R36 Pro and R36H. On the 4-inch square screen (R36S Plus, R36 Max, R36S Ultra) it shows with bars at the top and bottom.

1. Power off, take out the game card (the TF2/GAME slot on dual-slot units) and open it on a computer.
2. Copy the game file you own into the Sega 32X folder.
3. Put the card back, restart, and open Sega 32X from the main menu.
4. In game, the RetroArch quick menu (usually Select + X on ArkOS) has save states and display settings.

The 32X bolted two 32-bit SH-2 processors onto a Mega Drive in 1994 as a stopgap before the Saturn. It was abandoned within a year, but its short library includes a strong Doom port, Virtua Racing Deluxe and Knuckles Chaotix.
