Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. Entire library supported.

FamicomPerfect

Identical hardware to NES. Full-speed emulation on all R36 models.

SNESPerfect

Full-speed emulation including special chips (Super FX, SA-1) on all R36 models.

SFCPerfect

Identical hardware to SNES. Full-speed emulation on all R36 models.

Mega DrivePerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. Mega Drive and Sega Genesis share the same hardware.

Sega GenesisPerfect

Identical hardware to Mega Drive. Full-speed emulation on all R36 models.

Gameboy AdvancePerfect

Full-speed emulation. The entire GBA library runs flawlessly on all R36 models.

Gameboy ColorPerfect

Full-speed emulation including original Game Boy games on all R36 models.

ArcadePerfect

Classic arcade games (pre-1995 hardware) run full-speed. Very demanding 32-bit arcade hardware may have issues on RK3326.

Capcom Play System IPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. CPS-1 hardware is well within RK3326 capability.

Capcom Play System IIPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. The entire CPS-2 library is well supported.

NeoGeoPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. NeoGeo is a great fit for this hardware.

NeoGeo PocketPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models.

NeoGeo Pocket ColorPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models.

PC EnginePerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models, including CD-ROM titles.

PlayStation 1Perfect

Excellent emulation on all R36 models. Nearly the entire PS1 library runs at full speed.

Game BoyPerfect

Full-speed on every R36 model with room to spare. Most emulators also offer colour palettes if you would rather not play in the original green.

Master SystemPerfect

Full-speed emulation on all R36 models. The entire library is supported.

Game GearPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. The R36 screen is far larger than the original, so Game Gear titles look better here than they ever did on the hardware.

Atari 2600Perfect

Runs effortlessly on every R36 model. Many titles expect a single-button joystick, so the extra buttons go unused.

Atari 5200Perfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Some titles need the keypad overlay mapped to buttons.

Atari 7800Perfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Titles using the POKEY sound chip need the matching BIOS for correct audio.

Atari LynxPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Rotated games need a display-rotation option in the emulator.

WonderSwanPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Many titles are played with the console rotated 90°, which the emulator handles.

WonderSwan ColorPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models, and it plays the original mono WonderSwan library too.

ColecoVisionPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Requires the ColecoVision BIOS to boot, and many games expect the numeric keypad to be mapped to buttons.

IntellivisionPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Needs the Intellivision BIOS, and the 12-button keypad has to be mapped onto the handheld — expect to consult per-game controls.

MSXPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Requires MSX system ROMs, and keyboard-driven titles need a virtual keyboard.

MSX2Perfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Needs MSX2 system ROMs; disk-based titles may require swapping disk images mid-game.

Famicom Disk SystemPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Requires the FDS BIOS, and multi-side games prompt you to swap disk sides mid-play, exactly as the original did.

SG-1000Perfect

Full-speed on all R36 models — it is the least demanding Sega system supported.

Sega CDPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models — the CD hardware is still 16-bit. Requires the region-matching Sega CD BIOS, and games are large because of the CD audio and video.

PC Engine CDPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Requires the correct System Card BIOS — Super CD-ROM² titles will not boot on an earlier card.

VectrexPerfect

Full-speed on all R36 models. Emulators can draw the original screen overlays, which several games effectively require to be readable.

Nintendo 64Playable

On R36S (RK3326): popular 2D-heavy N64 titles run well; complex 3D games may have slowdowns (~60% library). On R36 Max/Ultra (RK3566): compatibility improves to ~80%. Not every game runs perfectly on any model.

Virtual BoyPlayable

Emulation is full-speed, but the hardware was stereoscopic and a flat handheld screen cannot reproduce that. Emulators offer anaglyph or side-by-side modes; the default red-on-black single view is playable but tiring, and this is a hardware limitation rather than a performance one.

Neo Geo CDPlayable

Games run at full speed, but the Neo Geo CD loaded slowly on real hardware and emulation reproduces that faithfully — expect waits between rounds. Requires the Neo Geo CD BIOS. Where a title also exists as a cartridge ROM, the cartridge version plays better.

Nintendo DSLimited

On R36S (RK3326): only lighter 2D DS games run acceptably; demanding 3D titles struggle significantly. On R36 Max/Ultra (RK3566): most of the library becomes playable.

PSPLimited

On R36S (RK3326): simple 2D PSP games and some lighter 3D titles work; demanding games like God of War or Monster Hunter Freedom Unite have performance issues. On R36 Max/Ultra (RK3566): most PSP games become playable, though a few very demanding titles may still struggle.

DreamcastLimited

On R36S (RK3326): 2D-heavy arcade titles (CPS2 ports, fighting games) run reasonably; demanding 3D games like Shenmue or Sonic Adventure 2 have noticeable slowdowns. On R36 Max/Ultra (RK3566): most Dreamcast titles become playable.

Sega NAOMILimited

Same compatibility profile as Dreamcast — shares the same underlying hardware. Simpler titles work better on R36S; full experience on R36 Max/Ultra.

Sega 32XLimited

The 32X requires two SH-2 cores emulated alongside the Mega Drive itself, which is a real load for the RK3326 — expect frame drops in the 3D titles, while 2D games such as Knuckles Chaotix fare better. R36 Max/Ultra (RK3566) handles most of the library.
