PlayStation Portable (PSP) was Sony's first handheld gaming console, released in 2004. Known for its powerful graphics and multimedia capabilities.
Simple 2D PSP games and some lighter 3D titles work in PPSSPP; demanding 3D games such as God of War or Tekken 6 have performance issues, while others, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite among them, run well in community tests. Every R36 model, the R36 Max and R36S Ultra included, uses the same RK3326 chip.
The chip is the same in every model, so the rating is too. What differs is the screen: 4:3 panels suit most home consoles, the 1:1 square panel suits Game Boy and GBA and shows 4:3 games with bars.
The R36 handheld family runs PSP titles with limited compatibility out of the box.
