The R36S runs on the Rockchip RK3326 chip, the same SoC used in Anbernic's RG351 line. This chip became the basis for dozens of similar devices from 2020 onwards. None of these manufacturers own the design outright — the hardware reference design is openly available.

IPS panels have:

TN panels show color inversion when viewed from below or the sides.

Dual SD Slot Check

A genuine R36S has two microSD slots:

• TF1 at the top-left of the back panel (system)
• TF2 at the bottom-left (games)

Single-slot units are knockoffs using cheaper PCB designs.

Weight

A real R36S with battery weighs approximately 235–250 grams. Suspiciously light units (~180 g) often have smaller batteries.
