Asteroids

Does Asteroids run on R36S?

Yes. Atari 7800 games are rated Perfect on the R36S (RK3326): they generally run at full speed.

Full-speed on all R36 models. Titles using the POKEY sound chip need the matching BIOS for correct audio.

Made for a 4:3 TV, so it fills the 3.5-inch screen of the R36S, R36 Pro and R36H. On the 4-inch square screen (R36S Plus, R36 Max, R36S Ultra) it shows with bars at the top and bottom.

Ratings are estimates for the whole Atari 7800 library on the RK3326 chip, not a test of this one title. Compare R36 models

🕹️About the Atari 7800

The 7800 arrived in 1986 with near-arcade 2D graphics and, unusually for its era, full backwards compatibility with the 2600 library. It launched too late against the NES but its arcade conversions hold up.
