How to Reset R36S: Factory Reset & Troubleshooting

Having issues with your R36S? Here's how to reset it properly.

Types of Reset

Soft Reset (Restart)

For minor issues:

1. Press Power button briefly

2. Select "Restart" from menu

3. Wait for device to reboot

Hard Reset (Force Restart)

When device is frozen:

1. Hold Power button for 10+ seconds

2. Device will force shutdown

3. Wait 5 seconds

4. Press Power to turn on

Factory Reset (Full Restore)

For major issues - this erases all data!

Method 1: Re-flash SD card

1. Download original firmware

2. Flash to SD card using Rufus/Etcher

3. Insert and boot R36S

Method 2: Settings menu (if available)

1. Go to Settings

2. Find "Reset" or "Restore defaults"

3. Confirm reset

Common Issues & Fixes

R36S Won't Turn On

• Charge for 30 minutes
• Try hard reset
• Check if SD card is properly inserted

R36S Stuck on Boot Screen

• Remove game SD card, try booting
• Hard reset
• May need to re-flash system SD card

R36S Frozen During Game

• Wait 30 seconds (some games load slowly)
• Hard reset if unresponsive
• Try a different ROM file

Black Screen

• Increase brightness (might be on lowest)
• Hard reset
• Check display connection

Preventing Issues

✅ Use quality SD cards (replace stock ones)

✅ Safely shutdown using menu

✅ Don't interrupt firmware updates

✅ Keep games in correct folders

If problems persist after reset, the SD card may be corrupted and need replacement.
